Canada’s National Ballet—Project Grand Jeté // Toronto


One of the finest ballet training institutions in the world, on par with the Royal Ballet School in London, the School of American Ballet in New York, and the Paris Opera Ballet School. More than 700+ students use the facility on a weekly basis. The school offers professional dance training, academic education and student residences all on one site.

Project Grand Jeté: The National Ballet School offers 12 dance studios constructed to international standards, change rooms, dressing rooms, wardrobe, and physiotherapy department. Additional programmatic space includes a café, town square, resource centre, eight classrooms, computer labs, science and photography labs, art studio, audio-visual lab, ESL room, and study space. Construction included the conservation, restoration, and adaptation of existing heritage buildings to accommodate new classrooms and administrative functions. The project consisted of a concrete structure, precast and curtain wall exterior, and included one level of underground parking.
