mass timber + low carbon
peel REGIONAL police Operational Support Facility (OSF)
The Regional Municipality of Peel is a regional municipality in the GTA that serves the cities of Mississauga and Brampton, and town of Caledon.
The new Operational Support Facility (OSF) is part of an organizational transformation as Peel Regional Police evolves to meet the needs of one of Canada’s most diverse and fastest-growing communities. OSF is a mass timber structure targeting zero carbon.
The OSF will be an administrative facility intended to house Peel Police Communication Services, IT Services (including Data Centre), Record Services, Road Safety Services, Analytic Services and support facilities for each of the bureaus. The facility will operate 24/7 with civilian and police services personnel and consist of a five-storey building of approximately 173,000 sq ft, exclusive of a mechanical penthouse of approximately 9,400 sq ft of additional gross floor area. A surface parking lot and a two-level underground parking garage is proposed. Building features include: post disaster design, mass timber structure, solar panels, heat pumps, and onsite backup mechanical/electrical systems. Site improvements will include secured parking, EV charging stations, and fleet fuel station. The facility will be designed and constructed in accordance with Municipal Net Zero Emissions Building Standards, adhering to the requirements of CaGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Design Standard Version 3.
“The Operational Support Facility will provide much needed resources and will improve service delivery for our residents of Peel. Services such as 911 communications will be moved to this new facility and will be equipped to improve responses to critical incidents.”
— Sumeeta Kohli, Peel Police Services Board Vice Chair
