Earlier this month TRCA held the ceremonial ground breaking for its new headquarters, to be located adjacent York University.  The facility will measure over 80,000 sq ft and will be constructed using mass timber.  The TRCA ground breaking marks the second mass timber office building to be underway with Eastern Construction, with two larger mass timber projects in the wings for 2020.

The TRCA Headquarters will participate in the Canadian Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Pilot Program and has targeted the Toronto Green Standard Tier II, LEED Platinum, and WELL Silver certification.  Sustainable design features include a rooftop solar array, four solar chimneys, energy-saving waterwalls, electric vehicle charging stations, and rainwater harvesting to irrigate the green roof.
